About Kamal

Kamal Sagoo BSc (Hons) MCOptom Grad Cert Ocular Therapeutics is the principal optometrist at Options Optometrists Karrinyup.

Kamal brings more than 30 years of optometry experience to the practice. He completed his initial training at the University of Manchester and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in 1993 before working in private practice in both the United Kingdom and Australia.

He has developed a loyal following through his thorough, considered approach to eye care and his commitment to taking the time to understand each patient’s individual needs.

Kamal has particular clinical interests in diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, children’s vision and myopia management. He completed his Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics in 2017, allowing him to prescribe ophthalmic medications for appropriate eye conditions.

He is also passionate about the development of the profession and has enjoyed mentoring undergraduate students and postgraduate optometrists throughout his career.

Options Optometrists Karrinyup uses advanced diagnostic technology including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and digital retinal imaging.

These technologies allow our optometrists to examine the retina, macula and optic nerve in greater detail and can assist with the detection and ongoing monitoring of conditions such as:

• Cataracts
• Other retinal and ocular health changes

Where further investigation or specialist treatment is required, Kamal can coordinate referral and co-management with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals.

Kamal has a strong interest in children’s vision and myopia management.

Children do not always recognise when their vision is changing, so a comprehensive eye examination can help assess their eyesight, eye coordination and overall eye health.

For children developing progressive short-sightedness, we can also discuss evidence-based myopia control and myopia management options where appropriate.

Our Karrinyup team can help you choose the right combination of glasses, spectacle frames and prescription lenses for your vision, lifestyle and personal style.
